Well, some of you have asked me to keep you guys updated on the bird I found last week so here it is. A lot has happened XD

We found out he's a sparrow though what kind of sparrow I'm not sure yet. His name is Jiro - yeah I could have called him Jack but that was a little too... you know XD

Compared to what he looked like last week Jiro has really grown a LOT. Seven days ago he really looked like a helpless little bird who just couldn't fend for himself - fluff feathers everywhere, he didn't have much strength in his legs yet, his wings weren't fully developed yet, he had no tail and all he did was sleep and eat.

But now, his wings are fully grown and his tail feathers get larger by the day. Four days ago they were nothing but a few tiny feathers but now they're almost fully grown. He hops around in his cage like there is no tomorrow, he's getting his adult coloration on his feathers, he loves to sleep in my hand or on my shirt on my lap and....

JIRO LEARNED HOW TO FLY TODAY!

It was so funny, he was sitting on my finger looking up and spreading his wings. He had this, "I can do it, I can do it, I can do it!" look on his face and then... off he went. It was still a bit awkward but he landed safely on my window sill. I'm so proud of you, Jiro! ;-;

So I'll move him to a bigger cage today so he has more room to practice. I don't feel comfortable letting him loose in my room yet.
So in other words he's doing really well ^-^ He hops on my finger as soon as I hold it in front of him and he's my personal alarm clock in the morning XD

As to those who wonder if I'll release him back in the wild, the answer is no. I don't trust it. Because I had to feed him by hand multiple times a day he has become pretty attached to me and I fear that if I release him back in the wild he'll stick close to our home and the ground. And with all those cats in the neighbourhood - we own two cats ourselves - I fear he'll be caught in no time.
I don't want to risk it.
